My name is Lisa Bonella. I am the owner and tutor at Successful Afrikaans, based in Durban North, Kwazulu Natal.
Teaching is my passion. The subject most students struggle with and dislike the most is Afrikaans as it’s not a language commonly spoken in Durban. Afrikaans teachers are not their favourite teacher either! Seeing students suddenly understanding Afrikaans rules for language, grasping concepts taught and improving their Afrikaans marks is so rewarding.
I am so grateful to be able to have a positive impact on children and teenagers’ lives and to make a difference.
My experience:
I have over 20 years teaching high school Afrikaans First additional language, grade 8 to 12.
I have taught in IEB schools and government schools.
I have taught Afrikaans at Livingstone remedial school in Morningside Grade 4 to 7.
I tutor full time in the afternoons until 6 pm and on a Saturday morning.
I also do English to Afrikaans translations for organizations that need correspondence or articles translated.
